The Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book

Mobirise

The Book of Isaiah is the oldest complete book of the Bible.  The scroll was one of the earliest scrolls discovered by Bedouin in the Qumran Caves

More about the Book of Isaiah scroll is found here.

The Israel Museum in Jerusalem includes the "Shrine of the Book" where the first seven scrolls found at Qumran in 1947 are kept.  The dome of the building, seen in the photo, is made in the shape of a lid to the clay jar that the scrolls where found in.  Today, the scrolls are again kept under the lid-shaped roof of the shrine.

The museum website is found here.

Beduoin shepherds inadvertantly found the cave that housed the jars that contained the scrolls.

The story of the shepherds is found here.
